Timothy S. Mescon, Ph.D.


Dr. Timothy S. Mescon is the 4th President of Columbus State. He assumed that responsibility in August, 2008. Currently he serves as a Trustee at the RiverCenter a member of the boards of the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and Boy Scouts of America- Chattahoochee Council, the Fort Benning Futures Partnership and sits on Governor Perdue’s Workforce Investment Board. Previously, for 18 years, Mescon was Dean at the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University in metropolitan Atlanta, where he held the Tony and Jack Dinos Eminent Scholar Chair of Entrepreneurship. Dr. Mescon is the author of more than 200 articles and cases and has co-authored four books, his latest, Entrepreneurship: Venture Initiation, Management and Development which was published in 2008. Additionally, he has co-authored an audiotape series entitled Management Excellence for Nightingale-Conant

Dr. Mescon received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, MBA from Southern Methodist University and B.A. from Tulane University. He has served on the faculties of Arizona State University and the University of Miami. He was founding dean of the Frank Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University in Maryland. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Kingston University (U.K.) School of Business and Law. Additionally, Dr. Mescon has served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Aston in Birmingham, England and Nanjing University in China and as a Visiting Fellow at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Dr. Mescon is married. He and his wife Lauren have 4 children, William, Preston, Abbie and David.
